SEATTLE, WA – Sound Theatre Company brings the Seattle premiere of the Tony Award-winning comedy One Man, Two Guvnors in August – and the run will include one sensory-friendly performance on Saturday, August 20th at 2:00 PM. This special performance is designed exclusively for families and groups whose members include people on the autism spectrum.

One Man, Two Guvnors is about a charmer who talks his way into being hired by two rival gangsters at the same time – and of course, has to keep each boss from learning about the other. The role was originally created for James Corden, who starred in London and on Broadway, winning the 2012 Tony Award for Best Actor. (That success launched a second career of his own, as host of “The Late Late Show” on CBS television.)

This slapstick farce includes some bawdy humor and mild language; but it’s all played in a broad, good-natured style – like the commedia dell’arte classic it’s based on, The Servant of Two Masters. This version is set in the “mod” England of the 1960s. It’s filled with crazy characters, acrobatics, mistaken identities, and a big chase scene at the finale. Plus delightful songs from a pop band that resembles a certain Fab Four…but adds an accordion, ukelele, xylophone, and washboard.

To accommodate the unique needs for this special performance, moderate lighting will stay on over the audience during the show. Sound and lighting effects will be toned down to sensory-friendly levels. Parents can take younger children out to quiet rooms and activity areas at any time during the performance, if necessary – and come back in whenever they wish. Support staff will be on hand inside the theater and out in the lobby.

Special pricing for this performance is $13 per person, all ages. Sound Theatre Company is lowering ticket prices for this performance so that families in the autism community can afford to enjoy this fun outing together. These can only be purchased online, through Brown Paper Tickets: Go to http://onemantwoguv.brownpapertickets.com, enter the Discount Code “SOUNDFRIEND”, and the special ticket option will appear.

Pictorial “narratives” and a plot synopsis will also be available to help parents prepare their children for attending a live theater performance.

The Center Theater is on the first floor of the Seattle Center Armory building. The entrance is on the east side of the building, facing the EMP. The Center Theater is ADA compliant, with ground-level access and wheelchair seating.
