**NOTE** TONIGHTS JULY 26 PERFORMANCE OF CITIZEN WILL NOT HAVE ASL INTERPRETATION THERE WILL BE CART/CAPTIONING PROVIDED. Our original and posted intent for this performance was to offer American Sign Language (ASL) Interpretation for Deaf/Hard of Hearing audience members. Due to unforeseeable complications, we will not be able to offer ASL Interpretation for the Citizen: An American Lyric performance on Friday July 26th. We received notice early Thursday morning of a health concern facing our interpretation team. Fortunately, Friday’s performance will be captioned by our Open Captioning/CART service provider, Lisa Hutchinson. Lisa is incredibly familiar with the CITIZEN text, and we look forward to having her in the space again. Captioning is not a like-for-like substitute for ASL. There are cultural, social, artistic/aesthetic, linguistic, and other vital reasons why we had hoped to offer ASL for this performance. We wanted to ensure that there was any option, however, for Deaf/HoH folks. For Sound Theatre Company’s next production, peeling, we plan to have two ASL Interpreted performances on August 16 and August 22. We deeply regret not being able to fully live our mission to be an accessible theatre space and will do better moving forward. Thank you, Roland Carette-Meyers, Accessibility Coordinator (he/him) Sound Theatre Company access@soundtheatrecompany.org | 253.973.5250 (text/call) Teresa Thuman, Producing Artistic Director (she/her) Teresa@soundtheatrecompany.org
