Performer Bios
Allyson Lee Brown
A native of New Orleans, LA, Allyson Lee Brown received her MFA in Acting from the University of Washington School of Drama. She is also a proud graduate of the illustrious Spelman College where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Drama. Her professional credits include Bulrusher (Intiman Theatre,) Citizen: An American Lyric (Sound Theatre/The Hansberry Project,) Skeleton Crew (ArtsWest Playhouse,) Milk Like Sugar (ArtsWest Playhouse) The Tempest (Seattle Shakespeare Company,) and the world premiere of Reparations (Sound Theatre/The Hansberry Project) Since living in Los Angeles, CA, Allyson has landed a role on the CBS/Paramount+ series, Guilty Party, starring Kate Beckinsale. In addition to her passion for acting, Allyson enjoys mentoring, teaching and encouraging youth to tap into their greatness!
Nicholas Japaul Bernard
Nicholas Japaul Bernard is a native of Rochester New York and a Seattleite of four years now. He has had the opportunity to work with many theatres around town including The 5th, Sound Theatre, Artswest, Strawberry Workshop, and Book-It Repertory Theatre. As a disabled, queer, and black artist Bernard is interested in fostering an artistic world in which marginalized people have the space to both give breath to their own stories as well as not being regulated to that alone. We are more than our pain and more versatile than you’ve ever imagined.
Marie Bolla
Marie was born in Seattle, shortly after her parents emigrated to the US from South Asia. She practices as a multidisciplinary artist. She’s a 2014 Freehold Studio ETI Diversity Scholarship recipient, where she wrote her first solo show. This year Marie is exceptionally fortunate to join many of the strong women writers before her, as a Hedgebrook writer-in-residence.
She hopes to share her experience as a woman of color living with disabilities, to let others know they are not alone.
